Hubcap Grill Burger Truck/Liberty Station

September 4, 2010

Beer, Grub

Before heading off to 50 cent beer night at the Sam Houston Race Park, for our dear ginger friend’s dirty 30th birthday, with the simulcast horse races (I was so bummed it wasn’t live, but I bet and yelled at the screen all the same) we decided to hit up the Hubcap Grill burger truck that is always parked at Liberty Station, on Washington, for some burgers and beer. See Hubcap’s twitter for what burgers/specials are available. (picture stolen from Zach!)

The Grub:

I had to have the Cheesy Cheeto burger that had cheese and Cheetos (go figure?!). The burger was delicious, I only wished for a bit more spiciness, but that’s just me, like Jordan I should have ordered jalapeños. Ricky Craig, the owner, came out personally to ask how the burgers came out and to thank us for stopping by, our pleasure, most definitely! I asked if I brought my own Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, if he would make a burger with them and he agreed, to my excitement and I even suggested Funyons, to which he also said was possible! Come on now, that would be delicious!!  The burgers were all done perfectly to our requests and the cheese was oozy and delicious, just want you want in your belly before some serious 50 cent beer drankin’. I definitely need to taste more of what Ricky is makin’, both at the truck and the flagship downtown Hubcap Grill location. See cheesy masterpiece below.

The Cheesy-Cheeto Burger with the Agave Wheat

The Beer:
Breckenridge Brewery Agave Wheat
Brewed by: Breckenridge Brewery, Denver, Colorado.
ABV: 4.2%
Style: American unfiltered wheat

With only a few taps visible, I was suprprised to see Breckenridge Brewery Agave Wheat as one of them. I Love the Agave Wheat- a light wheat beer, unfiltered and the nectar from Agave (hell yeah!). I consider this a favorite beer. I love Wheat beers, the are probably my favorite style, easy to drink and so many flavor possibilities. The Agave in this beer definitely sets it apart from the normal wheat beer, but it isn’t crazy. I even love the label, but that’s because I may or may not have a thing for the Dia de los Muertos style figures, a sugar skull may be my next tattoo, hmmmmm. :D

Mcdonalds burgers here in Mexico come with doritos and the spicy kind.
