I’ve decided that instead of trying to update my new brewery post every other 5 seconds with updates from all the breweries and brewpubs, I would start a weekly (or every few days, depending on how much news there is) feature that puts all the news in one place. This will also feature news from any brewery, not just ones that are planning, building, etc. As always, feel free to comment or email me with any information or corrections.
A Brewmaster is announced:
According to Flix Brewhouse‘s Facebook, they have hired Justin Rizza (formerly of Independence Brewing) as their Brewmaster. You can check out their most recent Press Release for more information on their opening.
Adelbert’s Brewery has been posting pictures on their Facebook of equipment arriving and setting up the brewery. This Austin brewery hopes to have it’s line up of 6 beers out by late this year.
Whip-in to brew:
Dipak, a purveyor of Indian food and great craft beer in Austin at Whip In, has announced that they will start brewing. Stay tuned for more updates, as of now they plan to open in Spring of 2012. Apparently he had some help from Twisted X in securing a brewing system.
Lone Pint Brewery (Magnolia, Texas) has secured financing from their bank! We should start seeing more frequent updates from these guys as progress continues. Check out my interview with the founders, Heather and Trevor, to get caught up.
New Brewery Tasting:
Lakewood Brewing will be hosting their July tasting on Saturday the 9th. It will be at artisan cheese shop: Scardello cheese. More details to be posted. They have also already released the date for their August tasting: the 14th at The Hottest Half (Half marathon and 10k), with more details to follow.
Homebrew Shop Moving:
DeFalco’s has signed a new lease at 9223 Stella Link, about 3 blocks closer to 610. It will be much larger than the previous location, at 7,000 square feet and much more parking. They hope to move in November.
More details on Buffalo Bayou Brewing:
In an article in the Houston Press, Rassul talks about announcing his brewmaster soon (apparently from Dallas, who could it be?), his first beer- a 10% ABV imperial stout brewed with gingerbread spices, among other things. Just recently his location got leaked on Swamplot (5301 Nolda Street).
Deep Ellum Brewing, out of Dallas, Texas, posted a picture Tuesday of their equipment arriving on big rigs. Looking forward to trying their beers, after what looked to have been a huge, successful tasting.
Craft Cider in Houston:
Leprechaun Cider updated their twitter, saying they are bottling their first batch and that we should see it at Whole Foods and Spec’s in mid to late July. I’m not a huge Cider fan, but I’ll give this Houston cider company a shot.
Check back for more updates soon!
